A R T I S T S T A T E M E N T
I'm an artist and my passion is photography. A lot has changed since I started practicing photography. When I started I used a manual Pentax film camera, and spent my time in the darkroom creating art from the film. Now I have evolved into the digital age. Today I use a Canon Rebel digital camera and the darkroom has been replaced by my computer and its image editing software.
Editing can, however, only enhance my art. First it needs to be created through staging and direction. This action of creating the right shot is essential for the final outcome, and needs to be spot on. It is in these first stages that the quality of the photographic artist first becomes apparent.
Only once the perfect shot is in place can editing take place and highlight the emotions and the texture of the final image.
This combination of staging and editing is what creates my fine art photography.
